What you can do with a smaller guest list

Make it personal. Customised favours, a playlist built from songs that actually mean something to the two of you, a signage board of family photographs. These land with 80 guests. They get lost in a crowd of 600.

Add something interactive. A live counter, a small acoustic set, a game between the pheras and the reception. With a smaller room you can run one activity that everyone joins instead of splitting the crowd across several.

Keep the décor warm rather than big. Soft lighting, comfortable seating clusters, a few well-chosen installations. A small hall dressed properly reads far more expensive than a large hall filled halfway.

Get the service right. With fewer guests, every gap in service is visible. A dedicated banquet team, clear timelines and one point of contact make the difference between a smooth evening and a stressful one.

None of it works, though, if the room is wrong. A hall built for 500 will make 80 guests feel like a poorly attended event, no matter how good the décor is. The venue has to match the count.

Riviera House is our boutique property inside the Ambience complex in Gurugram, spread over 7,000 sq. ft. It was designed specifically for hosts who want a luxurious setting without a cavernous hall. The interiors are modern, the finishes are recently upgraded, and the fixed décor means you are not starting from an empty shell.

It works particularly well for receptions, engagement ceremonies and cocktail evenings where you want the room to feel polished from the moment guests walk in. Udman Chhatarpur - Chhatarpur, South Delhi

Udman Chhatarpur is a 4-star hotel on the Chhatarpur stretch, which puts it within reach of most of South Delhi and close to the Chhatarpur metro station. Being a hotel rather than a standalone hall, it solves a problem most intimate weddings run into: where outstation family stays.

The property handles haldi and mehendi ceremonies well, along with cocktail nights and smaller receptions. If your functions are spread across two or three days, hosting all of them at one address saves your guests a great deal of travelling. It sits alongside our other banquet halls in Chhatarpur.

Udman Panchsheel - Panchsheel, South Delhi

Udman Panchsheel is the most centrally placed of the four. For a guest list drawn largely from Delhi, this is usually the easiest address to get everyone to. It is a 4-star hotel with indoor banquet space, which makes it a dependable choice through Delhi summers and monsoon dates when an outdoor lawn is a gamble.

Udman Greater Noida is a 4-star hotel and resort with 30 rooms, set across manicured lawns. For a 50 to 100 guest wedding, that room count is the real advantage. You can put up almost the entire guest list on the property, which turns a one-evening function into a proper two-day residential wedding without anyone driving back and forth.

Whether you need rooms. All three Udman properties are hotels. If outstation family is flying in, that settles it.

How many functions you are hosting. One evening reception has different needs from a three-day sequence of haldi, mehendi, wedding and reception. The hotels handle the latter more comfortably because everything happens at one address.
