When it comes to getting engaged, things are pretty different in India as they are in abroad. Plus, engagement is one of the important milestones in your life that calls for a celebration with your friends and family. That sparkling ring on your finger will be more than just a fine piece of jewellery, as it signifies a strong bond that you are going to share with your partner for a lifetime!

Being an important occasion, you need to keep some things in mind before sharing it with the world. These things are known as ‘engagement etiquettes’ and they are important pointers that should be in mind.

Who would be the first one to know about it?

It’s usually said if it is not shared on social media, then it implies, that it didn’t happen. Many people don’t think like that as it’s just a millennial thought. We know it’s the best way to announce it but you should not be hasty and give it a thought as you just can’t gram it for your parents too. It’s better you tell them in person as they should be the first one to know about it if someone proposed you!

After that, you can tell your relatives, cousins and friends in the same order and social media should be the last stop. Plus, don’t be cheesy with a caption of your Just Engaged’ picture. Please, don’t stress it for announcing on the same day itself!

Be prepared if you can

Now, you must be thinking if this would be a surprise then how can you be prepared for it. But, we are just saying that if you even have a slightest of the hint then keep your hands or nails ready for it. As you must be posting a picture with a ring on your finger, then you can’t ruin the beauty of the moment with your non-manicured or chipped nails. We know it’s a harsh thing to say but we are all aware of this side of the internet. Plus, go with a perfect shade of your nails as it should complement that diamond ring.

Your Guest-list for the Engagement Party

In India, engagements are celebrated with great pomp and show. If you’re also having a party, then you have to keep in mind that the people you are inviting to this event will also be a part of your wedding guest-list. On the other hand, engagement parties are more intimate and only your near and dear ones should be invited.

What to wear on your engagement?

An engagement party is the best time to experiment with your look. You can choose from a wide variety of traditional or western outfits or something that defines your style.  You can go for a dreamy gown or a pretty lehenga in pastels and neutral shades that will add a whimsical touch to your look. You can also go for matching outfits with your spouse to have some stunning Insta-worthy pictures!

Who will throw the engagement party?

In the past, the bride’s parents usually organize the celebration. But now things have changed and both the bride as well as groom’s parents contribute to the ceremony. You can go for a lavish engagement party or even a small ceremony that totally depends upon you!

We hope these tips will help you to have an engagement party of your dreams!
