Getting engaged is one of the most important moment for a girl’s life. Plus, an engagement ring is something that she must have dreamt of that will be flaunting on her ring finger. If you are getting an engagement ring then you should also know how to take care of it. Because it would not only be expensive but also because it would be the most important keepsake of your life. So, if you want your engagement ring to last for long, you have to take care of it too.

Below are some tips that you can follow to make your rock sparkle for a longer time.

Get it insured

We are not freaking you out, but there is a slim chance that your ring may get lost, damaged or stolen. Trust us, you won’t regret it as it would be an expensive piece of jewellery and to avoid loss in such circumstances, make sure you get it insured.

Don’t take it off frequently

There can be a chance that you are not in a habit to wear a ring all the time. So, due to discomfort, you may remove your ring for a few seconds. We would suggest you to not make it as you may forget it at a public place and there would be hardly any chance that you get it back. It is extremely risky, as you could forget it on the sink or drop it accidentally.

Don’t touch the stone

This is a really important tip! You really need to avoid touching the stone of your ring, if you really want it to shine for a longer period. Always grab it by the band instead of holding it by the stone as it could get damaged due to dust, dirt and even body oil.

Maintain its cleanliness

Don’t ever clean the ring with any random cleaner available. You should always use hot water, a toothbrush, and some gin to clean it. But, preferably get it cleaned by a jewellery expert.

Pro Tip: Avoid using harsh chemicals like bleach which may dull the shine and finish of the ring.

Remove it while swimming

Also, it is advised to avoid wearing the ring while swimming or at the beach. As salty and chlorinated water can damage the setting of the stone which can result in loosening or even falling off.

So, girls, whenever you are not flaunting it, make sure you are taking care of that precious ring.
