Your wedding makeup has the ability to make or break your bridal look. Therefore, you have to keep some really important things in mind before booking wedding makeup artist. It is always advised to book your MUA at least 4 to 6 months before your wedding day as there are chances that your favourite artist is booked on the same dates as your wedding. Choosing the best makeup artist for yourself is not a piece of cake. It may take some 7 to 10 days to book your ideal artist as it will also include discussions about your look and scheduling your trials to weigh your options!

So here are some things you should keep in mind before finalising your bridal MUA!

Do your research

Nowadays, every popular MUA has online presence. You can go through their Instagram and have a look at their work to make a decision. Their recent work will give you a fair idea about their style and the looks created by them. You can take screenshots as well as save the favourite looks that will help you narrowing down the options.

Check their availability on your wedding date

This is really important while booking your MUA. Plus, after that also ask them how many bookings they had on the same day. If they are too packed, then you should not book them.

Payment terms

Their pricing will be the deciding factor, you just can’t make a decision because of it. If you are eyeing on an artist who is slightly higher than your budget, then you can discuss about your desired looks and even request a payment breakdown. The breakdown may happen with the team members, products as well as travel expenses that can be worked as per you. You can’t bargain on amount of their skill.

Do they have a studio or they are freelancers

If you are thinking of a destination wedding or calling the artist on the location, then it may affect your budget too. Weigh down the pros and cons of going to the studio or calling them to the location and decide what do you want.

Makeup products used by them

You really need to ask what products do they use and also discuss the type of makeup you want. Do you want Regular, HD or Airbrush? Pick something that’s suits your skin as well as occasion!

Discuss things in person and get a trial

It is always suggested to meet your MUA in person before booking them. Talk about the look you want and also ask for a makeup trial- before booking them! Plus, show them some pictures to tell them the kind of look you are looking forward to. Also, do get a trial for your hair too!

Their Cancellation Policy

You can’t avoid emergencies as they can happen at any time and with anyone. So, do get some clarity on their cancellation policy. Will they refund the amount if they cancel or they can’t make it for some reason! Do they provide backup?
