Unsuitable times when you should avoid wearing your engagement ring

An engagement ring is not just a piece of jewellery, but it has so many emotions attached to it. Therefore, you want to keep it all shiny, clean and safe for a longer period of time. You must be really possessive about your engagement ring and that’s why you want to keep it in in a good condition and also avoid the risk of losing it. So, you need to be really careful at various occasions and avoid wearing your ring for its protection. You may get it insured, in case you lose it but all that chaos can stress you. 

So, here are five unsuitable times or places where you should definitely wear your engagement rings.

While at the beach

There are various reasons why you should not wear your engagement ring when you are at the beach. The most obvious one being that you can lose it in the sand or water. The lesser-known reason is that the sand can wedge itself in the ring setting or under the diamond that can affect the beauty of the diamond. Even that sunscreen of yours can also damage the shine of your diamond. 


Working out in a gym

Cardio activities may not harm your ring, but weight lifting that can take a toll. The strong pressure applied to the band may affect the ring’s shape and in the case of pavé band because the smaller stones can fall right out of their setting.


While Swimming or soaking in a hot tub

You can still find your ring in a pool or tub if you check it filters but the chemicals like chlorine can do serious damage to the ring. It can even seriously discolour the metals of the ring.


Cleaning something

If you are thinking to go for cleaning your car or oven or bleaching then you should definitely take off the ring especially when your ring has a coloured gemstone rather than a diamond. The chemical used in the various washing liquids can erode the finish as well as polish on the gem.


Taking a shower

The soaps or shampoos also build up a cloudy coating on your stone, or even, under your stone which is much harder to clean. Also, the same applies to your body lotions, conditioners as well as hair serums.
